Col. Fred Cherry Middle School Student Wins First Place in the Virginia School Board Association's Regional Art Contest

We are proud to announce that Emily Monument, an outstanding student from Col. Fred Cherry Middle School, has been awarded first place in the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Spring Regional Art Contest. This prestigious annual event honors student artists across the Commonwealth and celebrates the critical role of arts education in public schools.

The VSBA Spring Regional Art Contest showcases student creativity and talent, recognizing individual achievement while highlighting the importance of fostering artistic expression in educational settings. Emily's remarkable work stood out among submissions from students across the region, earning her top honors and the admiration of peers, educators, and community members alike.

During a recent Suffolk School Board meeting, Emily and her family were invited to the podium to be formally recognized by the Superintendent and School Board for her exceptional accomplishment.
