Tidewater Consortium Secures $9 Million Teacher Quality Partnership Grant from U.S. Department of Education
Suffolk Public Schools is proud to be a part of the Tidewater Educators Consortium and one of 18 recipients to receive the U.S. Department of Education Teacher Quality Grant. The funds from this grant will support division-wide initiatives aimed at recruiting, preparing, and developing a diverse educational workforce.
With this allocation, we can improve our current outreach programs to attract candidates from underrepresented backgrounds, offer scholarships and financial support for aspiring educators, and present professional development opportunities designed to enhance cultural competency and inclusivity.
Most significantly, the funds will support and grow our mentorship program and help us continue to proactively approach the national teacher shortage impacting our schools. The Teacher Quality Grant opens many doors for Suffolk Public Schools to ensure that candidates receive comprehensive preparation to thrive in our diverse educational classrooms.
