Welcome to Nansemond River High School, Home of the Warriors!

Nansemond River High School is one of three Suffolk Public Schools high schools in Suffolk, Virginia. The school first opened its doors in September 1990 and was one of two high schools to open its doors that year. Nansemond River High School and Lakeland High School were built to replace four smaller high schools.

Nansemond River High School’s mission is to support an environment that recognizes the potential of all students to excel academically, emotionally, and physically in order to become responsible and productive citizens in a multicultural society.

Curriculum
The curriculum at Nansemond River High School is unique and challenging.

*Nansemond River is a 2020-21 Project Lead the Way Distinguished School that focuses on Engineering.
*We offer an extensive range of courses at the Honors and Advanced Placement levels, along with various dual-enrollment classes through Paul D. Camp Community College, also located in Suffolk, and Tidewater Community College.
*Students have the opportunity to enroll in Career and Technical Education courses at NRHS and at the College of Career and Career Academy at Pruden.
*Our school offers a very active Air Force JROTC program for those interested in pursuing a military career after high school.
*We offer electives in Band, Chorus, Theatre and Art for those students interested in the visual and performing arts. 

In addition to a challenging curriculum, Nansemond River offers students an opportunity to participate in many extra-curricular activities.
