    IMPORTANT NOTE:

    Once the application process is complete, an information packet will be mailed to the applicant.  Applicants can check the status of their applications through the web-based online employment portal.

    Requirements for Substitute Teachers

    1. Completed Online Application
    2.  Three (3) Reference Forms
    3.  Proof of negative tuberculin test performed within one year  of hire date
    4.  Official Transcripts verifying 30 semester hours from an accredited college


    Requirements for Substitute Teacher Assistants/Custodians

    1. Completed Online Application
    2.  Three (3) Reference Forms
    3.  Proof of negative tuberculin test performed within one year of hire date


    Requirements for Cafeteria Staff

    1. Completed Online Application
    2. Three (3) Reference Forms
    3. Proof of negative tuberculin test performed within one year of hire date
    4. Valid Food Handler’s Card

     
    Requirements for Substitute Bus Drivers

    1. Completed Online Application
    2. Three (3) Reference Forms
    3. Proof of negative tuberculin test performed within one year of hire date
    4. Driving record required from DMV
    5. Drug/alcohol test required
    6. Satisfactorily complete a driver training program provided by Suffolk Public Schools

     
    Requirements for Substitute Bus Aides

    1. Completed Online Application
    2. Three (3) Reference Forms
    3. Proof of negative tuberculin test performed within one year of hire date


    Reappointments


    Current substitutes will be automatically reappointed each year. If substitutes are no longer interested in remaining on the substitute list, contact the Human Resources Department at (757) 925-6758.
