Summary: Thank you for your interest in applying for the Virginia Beach Chorale Lou Sawyer Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Sawyer was a moving force behind music programs in the Virginia Beach School System for many years. We are pleased that his influence in the education of students will continue, made possible by the contributions of his many friends who performed with him or enjoyed the performances of his beloved Virginia Beach Chorale.
In lieu of an in-person audition, you will be required to attach a headshot, short biography and a recording of a prepared piece in your application submission. The scholarship winner will be selected and announced by April 15, 2023.

Summary: Coastal Virginia Building Industry Association Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in 1965 by a group of local, successful builders who wanted to give back to their community. Since then, the scholarship foundation has awarded more than $1.9 million to hundreds of deserving students in the Tidewater area who have a genuine need and want to further their education. In 2024, four $10,000 scholarships were awarded. The recipient selection is based upon academic success, financial need, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. Recipients of the 2025 awards will be notified in early May.

Summary: The Lynell Oliver Baker Memorial Scholarship was established in 1989 through funds donated in her memory by friends and family members. Up to three scholarships of at least $3,500.00 each will be awarded to graduating females from Suffolk Public High Schools -
King’s Fork, Lakeland, or Nansemond River - who have been accepted to a college or university for post-secondary study. Selection is based upon academics, athletic participation, school and community activities, and financial need. The winners will be announced during Senior Awards Ceremonies. Payment will be made upon notification of
the applicant’s matriculation to the college or university of her choice.
Applications can be downloaded from our Facebook page or students may pick up a printed copy from the guidance office. Applications should be returned to your guidance counselor by Thursday, March 27, 2025.
